For Mr. Ram Thapa Magar, the founder and Managing Director of Nepal Spirit Adventure, entering the mountain tourism industry was a natural choice. He was born in the scenic Ganesh Himal region of Dhading district in northwest Nepal. After finishing his schooling in a remote village, he moved to Kathmandu for higher education. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Tribhuvan University and began his career as a trekking staff member with various trekking agencies in Thamel.
He gradually upgraded himself as a licensed professional trekking guide by receiving various training from different institutions, such as Nepal Academy of Travel and Hotel Management, trekking guide training from Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), and training from Kathmandu Environment Education Project (KEEP).
He had been a guide for 7 years and managed a trekking company in Nepal for 5 years before starting his own adventure trekking company. He handles the operation department of the Nepal Spirit Adventure for Nepal trekking and Hiking, Tours and peak climbing, Bhutan and Tibet tour even he had led enough number of tourists to the famous mountain region as trekking and hiking leaders such as Everest region, Annapurna region, Manaslu Tusm valley with Larkya La pass, Mustang trek, Langtang trekking region, Ganesh Himal trek, Makalu as well as other non-tourist off the beaten trekking areas of Nepal.
Mr. Thapa has extensive experience as a trek, tour, and mountaineering guide, making him familiar with many trekking, touring, and climbing regions in this part of the world. He possesses knowledge and expertise in conducting trekking and peak climbing programs in the Himalayan regions, including ascents of peaks such as Island Peak, Mera Peak, Lobuche, Chulu, as well as other Himalayan mountains below 7,000 meters and over 8,000-meter expeditions.
Occasionally, he leads adventure and homestay treks in the high Himalayan region. He also provides eco-friendly and first aid training for leaders and crew members, and he is involved in social work in remote areas of Nepal. Mr. Thapa enjoys traveling and exploring new places around the world, sharing his incredible experiences of the Nepal Himalayas with others.
Ram Thapa Magar credits his success to a supportive team and well-wishers who went out of their way to help him during challenging times for his company. He feels forever indebted to the clients who believed in him and recommended his services to their families and friends, which played a significant role in the growth of his business. He acknowledges the contributions of mountain communities and believes in giving back to society. As a result, he regularly donates a portion of the company’s profits to charitable organizations, educational institutions in need of funding, and health posts in rural areas. Additionally, he shares valuable tips and training with young guides and students aspiring to succeed in the tourism industry.
Mrs. Samjhana Thapa Magar has been serving as the Executive Director of Nepal Spirit Adventure. She was born in the picturesque Ganesh Himal region of the Dhading district in northwest Nepal. After completing her schooling in her remote village, she moved to Kathmandu for higher education. Friendly, cheerful, and helpful, Mrs. Samjhana is well-trained in the tourism business. As a key leader in the company, she supervises the entire team, ensures excellent customer service, and manages various aspects such as staff insurance, hotel bookings, flight reservations, and trip departures and arrivals. She also enjoys mountaineering, hiking, river rafting, paragliding, and numerous other adventure activities.
