Essential Information

Yes, upon your arrival at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport, our airport representative or staff will welcome you warmly and transfer you to your respective hotel. In the afternoon or evening, we will review your trip itinerary, discuss the services included or excluded based on your chosen package, and introduce your trek guide, who will help you with the final preparations for your trek.
What kind of hotel do you provide in Kathmandu?
For the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Trek, we provide a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu both before and after the trek. The rooms are on a twin-sharing basis, and a delicious hot breakfast is included. If you require a single room, an additional supplement will apply.
What kind of accommodation is included in the trip package?
Throughout the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Trek, we offer clean tea houses (mountain lodges) and guesthouses. At Phakding and Namche Bazaar, we provide rooms with attached bathrooms.
Do you provide hygienic food during the trek?
Yes, we provide hygienic local meals along the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Trek, with full-board meals included (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Meals are served at the tea houses or lodges, with breakfast and dinner at the same location and lunch served en route. Typical Nepali meals like Dal Bhat (rice and lentils) are common, as well as other food options like rice, vegetables, noodles, potatoes, and soups. Some lodges also serve Western foods such as pizza, pasta, and French fries. Soft drinks, snacks, and beer are available in most tea house restaurants. For breakfast, you can generally find cereals, bread, and egg dishes.
Can we buy safe drinking water during the trek?
Safe drinking water is essential during the trek. We recommend drinking at least 3-4 liters of water daily to prevent dehydration and avoid altitude sickness (AMS). Filtered clean water is provided along the trek, and we also supply water purification pills. Alternatively, you can purchase sealed bottled or boiled water en route for an extra cost of around 2-4 dollars per liter.
Is health and fitness required for the trek?
Health and physical fitness are key for trekking and hiking. If you do not have prior trekking experience, we recommend starting a walking or cycling exercise routine for several weeks or months before your trip. If you have previous trekking or climbing experience, it will be beneficial for this trip. The highest point on this trek is 5,545 meters above sea level, and the trail involves several ascents and descents, walking through local villages, farmlands, terraces, and riverside paths. As long as you have the energy to walk for 4-6 hours per day, moderate fitness will suffice. However, we strongly advise travelers to consult a doctor before traveling and submit a medical report when booking the trip.
Are your trek guides experienced and safety-trained?
In Nepal, trekking in remote mountainous areas requires experienced and qualified guides and staff. At Nepal Spirit Adventure, we employ native trekking guides and porters who are trained and qualified for this type of trip. Our guides have a deep knowledge of the local culture and customs, and they are trained in first aid and safety procedures to ensure your well-being. All our guides are licensed by the Nepal Government and certified by TAAN and the Nepal Mountaineering Association. Our trekking guides have over 9-10 years of experience, and we provide regular training to our staff to ensure their efficiency.
For group treks, we provide one trek leader and, depending on the group size, an assistant guide. This ensures that in the event of any medical issues or other challenges, the trip will continue smoothly. To make the trek more enjoyable, we assign one guide to support and carry bags for every two trekkers, with the addition of a Sherpa helper in certain situations.
Are there recharging facilities for electronic devices on the trek?
Yes, we offer the ability to recharge your batteries and devices using electricity or solar power sources. In Nepal, the standard voltage is 220-240V with a 50Hz frequency. However, you may need a plug adapter, which you can purchase in Kathmandu before your trip. There may be a small fee for using the recharging facilities.
What about high-altitude sickness?
Altitude sickness (also known as acute mountain sickness or AMS) can occur when ascending too quickly at altitudes above 3,000 meters. Common symptoms include shortness of breath and light-headedness, which are normal at high altitudes. However, AMS involves more severe symptoms such as headache, nausea, and confusion. It is important to stay hydrated and take regular breaks. If you experience symptoms, inform your trekking guide, who will advise on the appropriate actions. Avoiding overexertion and drinking plenty of water (3-4 liters a day) can help prevent altitude sickness.
When is the best time for the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Trek?
Trekking in Nepal is possible year-round, but the best times are during the Spring and Autumn seasons. Here’s a breakdown of each season:
-
Autumn (September - November): This is one of the best seasons for trekking in the Himalayas, offering clear weather and spectacular mountain views. It’s also the peak season, and you’ll experience cultural events such as Dashain and Tihar, two major Hindu festivals in Nepal.
-
Winter (December - February): The weather can be cold at higher elevations, with snowfall. While trekking below 3,000 meters is ideal, higher regions may experience extreme cold. This season offers clear skies and fewer crowds, but be prepared for chilly temperatures at night.
-
Spring (March-May): Another excellent season for trekking, with warmer temperatures and vibrant flora, especially the rhododendron flowers. The weather is moderate, and visibility at higher altitudes is excellent.
-
Summer (June-August): This is the monsoon season, which brings heavy rainfall. While trekking during summer is possible, it is not recommended due to the wet conditions, which can make trails slippery and unpredictable. However, some regions like Upper Mustang, Dolpo, and Kailash are ideal for trekking during this time due to their dry climate.
