The Chitwan National Park is located in the mid-southern belt of Terai, known as the flatland of Nepal Himalaya, where one can explore various jungle activities to observe the wild animals and birdlife in Asia's largest parks. Chitwan National Park, with an area of 932 sq. km, is one of the oldest, most popular National Parks in Nepal. The park was designated as a World Heritage Site in 1984.

Chitwan jungle safari can be reached by regular overland tourist bus service from Kathmandu or from Pokhara, even by private vehicle, and by air, about 20 20-minute flight to Megauli or Bharatpur, and it may also be reached by an ultimate route with a surge of adrenaline and scenic Rafting on the Trisuli River. Chitwan National Park covers a pristine area with a unique ecosystem of significant value to the world, which contains the Churia hills, ox-bow lakes, and flood plains of the rivers Rapti, Reu, and Narayani.

Chitwan National Park has 43 species of mammals, with the famous endangered and elusive "Royal Bengal Tiger".Other animals found in the park include sambars, chital (spotted deer), barking deer, sloth bear, palm civets, languor, and rhesus monkeys.

The park is home to the one-horned Indian Rhinoceros, and freshwater Gharial crocodile, along with many other common species such as gaur (Asian bison), wild elephants, four-horned antelopes, striped hyenas, pangolins, Gangetic dolphins,  monitor lizards, and pythons. The park is also famous for over 800 species of birds, among them the endangered birds Bengal Florican, the Giant Hornbill, the Lesser Florican, the Black Stork, and the White Stork.

Common birds seen in the park include Peafowl, Red Jungle fowl, different species of Egrets, Herons, Kingfishers, Flycatchers, and Woodpeckers, and the best time for bird watching is around March and December. Here, 45 species of amphibians and reptiles have been recorded in the park, some of which are the Marsh mugger Crocodile, cobras, Green Pit Viper, and various species of frogs and tortoises. The Chitwan National Park has many jungle lodges and resorts with tented camps outside the buffer zone of the park premises.

Major Attractions in Chitwan National Park Tour

ELEPHANT SAFARI:

We can travel through open grassland and dense forest on elephant back in search of rare games; we can spot one-horned rhino, various species of deer, wild boar, sloth bear, leopard, bison, and the big one, the Royal Bengal tiger, etc.

CANOE RIDES:

A traditional dugout takes us on a silent trip down the Rapti River to view birds, crocodiles, and the animals of the river, especially from October through mid-March.

NATURE WALKING:

Well-trained naturalists/ecologists take us to prime spots to view deer, rhinos, sloth bears, and other wildlife, and no doubt, the detailed explanation from the experienced guide on wildlife and the jungle will help to widen our knowledge and enhance our trip.

BIRD WATCHING:

We can view the birds while we are on an early morning walk through the bush and along the Rapti River, where over 450 species of exotic birds, including the Giant Hornbill, Lesser Florican, and Paradise Flycatcher, exist. No doubt we will be accompanied by our experienced naturalist.

THARU STICK DANCE:

We will have a look at a melodious tribal dance performed by Tharu men with the rhythms of drums and with the clashing of a stick that embodies and projects how to drive away Rhino and other wild animals from the human habitat, especially after dinner at the hotel /lodge/tented camp, we will watch the Tharu stick dance.

You can spend time in Chitwan National Park as much as you like, there are options for 2 days, 3 days, 4 days, or 5 days and basically, we suggest you take our 2 nights 3 days package tour which is quite enough to experience all the jungle activities available in the park or do let us know if you have shorter time and have only had 1 night 2 days or you want to spend more day in Chitwan as we tailor and offer tours program in Chitwan National park as per your requirement and interests.
