Mr. Ram Thapa Magar, entering the mountain tourism industry was a natural path. Born in the beautiful Ganesh Himal region of Dhading District in northwestern Nepal, he developed a deep connection with the Himalayas from an early age. After completing his schooling in a remote village, he moved to Kathmandu to pursue higher education and earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Tribhuvan University.
Mr. Thapa began his career in tourism as a trekking staff member with various trekking agencies in Thamel. Through dedication and continuous learning, he advanced to become a licensed professional trekking guide. He completed numerous professional training programs, including:
- Trekking Guide Training from the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN)
- Tourism and hospitality training from the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM)
- Environmental and sustainable tourism training from the Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP)
Before founding Nepal Spirit Adventure, Mr. Thapa worked as a trekking guide for seven years and managed a trekking company for five years. Today, he oversees the company's operations, including trekking, hiking, tours, peak climbing, and Bhutan and Tibet travel programs.
Throughout his career, he has successfully guided numerous groups in Nepal's most renowned trekking regions, including:
- Everest Region
- Annapurna Region
- Manaslu and Tsum Valley with Larkya La Pass
- Upper Mustang
- Langtang Region
- Ganesh Himal
- Makalu Region
- Various off-the-beaten-path and remote trekking destinations
Mr. Thapa possesses extensive experience as a trekking, touring, and mountaineering guide. His expertise includes organizing and leading trekking and peak climbing expeditions throughout the Himalayas, including ascents of Island Peak, Mera Peak, Lobuche Peak, Chulu Peak, and other mountains below 7,000 meters, as well as support for expeditions to peaks above 8,000 meters.
In addition to his guiding responsibilities, he occasionally leads adventure and homestay trekking programs in remote Himalayan communities. He is passionate about sustainable tourism and regularly provides eco-friendly tourism practices and first-aid training to guides and trekking crews. He is also actively involved in community development projects in rural Nepal.
An avid traveler and explorer, Mr. Thapa enjoys discovering new destinations around the world and sharing his knowledge and experiences of the Nepal Himalayas with travelers.
