The Upper Mustang is a district, a remote Himalayan region in north-central Nepal, bordering Tibet. A former Himalayan kingdom (the Kingdom of Lo) with a strong Tibetan Buddhist heritage. Still possible to explore the area, which remains culturally Tibetan and is one of the most isolated regions in Nepal.
Once you visit there, you will feel like a haven and love to make the picture from different local villages, Mountains, and enough Buddhist monuments. This district lies in the rain shadow of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, giving it a desert-like landscape with dramatic cliffs, caves, and walled villages.
Highlights of Upper Mustang
Lo Manthang: A medieval walled city and cultural center.
Ancient Cave Complexes: Including Jhong and the sky caves of Chhoser.
Buddhist Monasteries: Such as Thubchen and Jampa.
